NES PREPARES STUDENTS HEADED BACK TO SCHOOL

Getting a new backpack and all the supplies needed for the school year isn’t always within reach for Nashville area families. Many public school children lack the materials needed for success in the classroom. That’s where Nashville Electric Service (NES) and other local companies have raised their hands to help.

NES employees recently donated dozens of backpacks, pencils, markers, scissors, notebook paper, pocket folders, crayons, rulers and glue sticks for at-risk elementary students in Metro Nashville Public Schools.

The items were collected for United Way’s Stuff the Bus Day. Several NES employees also volunteered their time to help sort and stuff the donated supplies into backpacks for eager young students to have on their first day of school.

NES is a proud supporter of metro schools year-round. Employees volunteer countless hours at our Pencil Partner school, Glenn Enhanced Option Elementary. Our engineers have also helped to develop curriculum and class projects for Maplewood High School’s Academy of Energy & Power. And, employees read to students on a regular basis through the Book ‘Em organization.
