NES CUSTOMERS SAVE MILLIONS OF KILOWATTS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville Electric Service (NES) customers have achieved over 21 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) in energy savings in 2014.

Because of this major milestone, NES has received special recognition from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for helping customers realize these savings through several energy-efficiency programs offered by NES and TVA. The award was presented at the NES Power Board meeting in March.

“NES is proud to serve the community of Nashville with safe and reliable power, while also leading the way in energy-efficiency efforts,” said Decosta Jenkins, NES President and CEO. “We know our customers are eager to incorporate important initiatives such as energy savings into their daily lives.”

NES consistently ranks as a top performer among other distributors in the following areas:

  • In-Home Energy Evaluations – First in the Valley with more than 4.5 million kWh in savings and 2,791 participants.
  • Green Power Switch – Leader in the Valley with more than 82,850 blocks of renewable energy sold.
  • Green Power Providers – First in the Valley with 35 new renewable energy systems installed in 2014.

  • Energy Right Solutions for Business – Fourth in the Valley providing assessments of energy use and incentives for businesses with a combined savings of 12.9 million kWh.

In addition, NES presented nine Neighborhood Energy Savers Workshops in 2014 to help customers learn easy ways to make energy-saving improvements at home. The workshops equipped participants with a free energy-saving tool kit resulting in a combined total savings of 126,000 kWh. NES is kicking off the 2015 workshop lineup on April 11 at the Harding Place YMCA.
